Overview

Sudbury and South Suffolk Citizens Advice helps people find solutions to life challenges by proving free, expert advice for everyone. We are an independent charity and part of the national citizens advice network. Although our office is in Sudbury, our coverage area is South Suffolk where we work closely with Suffolk County Council, Babergh District Council and other agencies and elected bodies. Our office has a small team of volunteers and staff, and their efforts contribute over £1m of value to the local community.

Role Description

We are looking to appoint a treasurer on a part time and voluntary basis to join the Board of Trustees. We need leadership from people who really care about social issues in our community. A time commitment of half a day a week is ideal but not expected with the opportunity to contribute more time if available.

Responsibilities

* Participate in Board meetings and sub-Committees and attend personally.
* Provide strategic direction to the executive and make decisions that impact the organisation and the wider community.
* Oversee all financials of the organisation, reporting, accounting and controls, and ensure compliance and accountability.

* Strong affinity with Suffolk and the community and resident of Babergh, Suffolk or local County.
* Solid background as qualified accountant, preferably as a CFO.
* Strategic decision making, governance and sound judgement.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
* An awareness of the non-profit sector.
