Your new role
As a Bioinformatics Lead, you will play a key role in driving thepany’sputational research. This is a permanent role that requires a strong on-site presence at their site in London.Responsibilities include:
1. Designing and implementing bioinformatics pipelines for microbial / microbiome analysis
2. Conducting statistical evaluations of microbiome datasets using R and Python
3. Collaborating with biologists to interpret sequencing data
4. Designing and leading bioinformatics and data science related projects
5. Developing reproducible workflows for metagenomic and Amplicon-based studies
6. Supporting experimental design and data collection strategies for projects
7. Maintaining and improving internal databases and documentation standards
8. Presenting findings to cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
What you'll need to succeed
You should bring a blend of technical expertise and scientific curiosity.Key qualifications include:
9. An MSc or PhD (or equivalent experience) within Bioinformatics, Biology, Microbiology, or a related field
10. Proven experience in bioinformatics, working with microbiome or microbial genomic data
11. Proficiency in R and Python for statistical analysis and data visualisation
12. Familiarity with tools such as QIIME2, DADA2, and Snakemake or Nextflow
13. Strong understanding of microbial ecology and sequencing technologies – eg ONT Amplicon, Illumina, PacBio etc
14. Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
15. Very goodmunication skills for translatingplex data into understandable insights
Previous experience working in a fast-paced or start-up environment is a nice to have for this role, as is exposure/familiarity with Machine Learning approaches.
