The key function is to support NHS Property Services in delivering building services maintenance and repairs across the NHS to ensure buildings are maintained to the highest standards and to provide a safe and secure environment for visitors, customers, and employees.
Main duties of the job
Ensure compliance with all processes, procedures, and policies that meet organisational standards/requirements, including but not limited to our Health & Safety Policy, HTMs (Health Technical Memoranda), and SFG20. Undertake routine planned and reactive maintenance as instructed by the Team Leader, ensuring operational standards are maintained. Support minor work activities, including repairs or minor works such as joinery, painting, decoration, general building works, ground works, or plumbing. Maintain accurate site log books at NHS premises. Support the Projects/Construction team and Team Leader in delivering minor capital works. Complete risk assessments prior to works and undertake tasks within relevant permits or work plans.

Job responsibilities
We are offering a permanent, full-time Maintenance Operative position based at Royal South Hants Hospital. The role involves working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm. The starting salary is from £28,000, depending on experience, plus on-call allowance. Requirements include qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 or higher in Plumbing & Heating, or equivalent, and a full UK driving license. Additional requirements include comfort with technological devices, on-call availability, industry experience, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. DBS and DVLA checks are required.
Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

* Formal apprenticeship or craft training
* Full UK Driving Licence, IPAF/PASMA license, CSCS card
Experience
* Experience in building maintenance and minor works
* Knowledge of method statements and permit to work
* Experience with services maintained to SFG20
