We are delighted to be supporting a highly regarded secondary school in Barnet with the appointment of an exceptional Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant. This is an outstanding opportunity for a high-achieving graduate with a strong academic background in a Humanities subject who is eager to gain valuable classroom experience before progressing onto a PGCE or Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme.

This role is particularly well suited to ambitious graduates who are passionate about education and keen to support students in achieving academic excellence across Humanities subjects.

The Role

As a Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teachers to support teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential exposure to Key Stage 5. You will play an important role in helping students develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deeper understanding of Humanities disciplines.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the delivery of high-quality Humanities lessons, including History, Geography, and Religious Education.
• Providing 1:1 support to students who require additional academic guidance or challenge.
• Leading and assisting small-group intervention sessions to raise attainment and confidence.
• Supporting students of varying abilities, including high-achieving pupils and those requiring additional support.
• Assisting with lesson preparation, resources, and classroom organisation.
• Helping to maintain a positive, focused, and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a high-calibre graduate who:

• Holds strong A-level results in Humanities-related subjects.
• Has achieved a 2:1 or above in a degree such as History, Geography, Politics, Philosophy, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrates excellent subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for Humanities education.
• Is confident working with secondary-aged students across different year groups.
• Possesses strong communication skills and a professional, proactive attitude.
• Is considering a future career in teaching via a PGCE or ITT route.

Why Apply?

• An excellent opportunity to gain paid, hands-on classroom experience.
• Outstanding preparation for teacher training programmes.
• Support and mentoring from experienced teaching staff.
• A highly respected Barnet secondary school environment.
• A chance to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic progress.

If you are a driven and academically strong Humanities graduate looking to take the first step towards a career in education, this Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant role in Barnet provides the ideal foundation.
