Senior Principal Consultant (Contract/Freelance) - Defence Industry
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer you will support the delivery of Manufacturing Engineering outputs into Operations that ensure design intent can be met.
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer you will support a variety of Manufacturing Engineering activities including the development of methods of manufacture in line with current operational capabilities in the manufacturing areas, problem solving, creation of standards, documents and instructions to support these.
The role holder will also be expected to support the ongoing uplift in the maturity of the Manufacturing Engineering function as required by ongoing competency and capability improvement strategies and plans.
To be an ambassador for change in the increasing value offering of Manufacturing Engineering into the Operations teams.
The role holder will also be required to be a champion in the use of appropriate processes and procedures as prescribed by the Business Management System (BMS) for their area of work.
Typical Duties
* Support in converting the Engineering Design Intent into Manufacturing Engineering data (sometimes complex) for Manufacturing Operations use.
* Responsible for timely completion of personal and team tasks using appropriate techniques.
* Support peer-to-peer review in readiness for release to Manufacturing Operations.
* Have awareness of the Quality and SHE Systems, for Manufacturing Engineering processes and documentation e.g. calling up safe methods of working.
* Help to build effective internal and cross functional relationships to achieve overall Project requirements.
* Develop own knowledge in the deployment of the training & risk assessments associated with their Manufacturing Engineering sub-discipline.
* Assure product and process quality as determined by company processes. Support in the development and testing of new system(s) when the need arises.
* Be a project team member ensuring best practices are adopted and utilised. This may involve developing processes within their sub-discipline by developing methods and equipment.
* Engaging with peers through good communications in keeping with the company values, policies, & procedures.
* Knowledge of and working towards performing PFMEA's.
* Use of technical documents and reports, including Manufacturing Instructions.
* Work towards identifying own development opportunities.
Knowledge
* Experience of core Manufacturing Engineering needs in a highly regulated manufacturing company.
* Experience in defining and delivering Key Performance Indicators.
* Able to be flexible, and apply own knowledge, but know where, when and who to contact when specialist support and advice needs to be sought.
* Experience in performing root cause analysis and reporting on countermeasures.
* Experience in working within Manufacturing Engineering or an Engineering discipline.
* Awareness of relevant Engineering standards (including SHE regulations).
* Preferred but not essential an understanding of dimensional management and measurement applications would be seen as an advantage.
Skills
* Ability to create and understand methods of manufacture.
* Creation and development of standards, documents and instructions to support Operations.
* Ability to effectively interpret drawings.
* Problem solving.
* Ability to work to prescribed procedures and processes as directed by the Business Management System.
* Good Communication Skills.
