We currently have a Fostering Family Worker position available within the Fostering Service, aimed at enhancing support for looked after children and foster carers.


Role Overview

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, creative, and flexible, with significant knowledge and experience in safeguarding children. Ideally, applicants will hold a professional qualification in a childcare-related field (minimum Level 3 NVQ or equivalent).


Key Requirements

* Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
* Relevant experience working with children and families
* Strong recording, report-writing, and IT skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team


Skills and Attributes

* Excellent organisational skills
* Ability to establish effective working relationships
* Flexible availability to work out of hours as required
* Willingness to travel around Nottinghamshire and potentially to other UK areas


Role Responsibilities

The main focus of the role is to support placement stability for children and young people, and to increase foster carer confidence in therapeutic parenting techniques to promote positive outcomes. Responsibilities include providing therapeutic training/support to foster carers and direct work with children in care or their children. Willingness to undertake further training (e.g., DDP, Theraplay, PACE) is essential.

This position is also available as a secondment opportunity for existing Nottinghamshire County Council employees, subject to line manager approval.
