You will be part of our prestigious project to build a new nuclear power station Sizewell C, on the East Suffolk coast which will supply 6 million homes with low-carbon electricity. Sizewell C will play a key role in the energy transition and will be one of the biggest Net-Zero projects in the UK. Did you know the role of an Environmental Manager is vital in realising our mission to enable the development of our Global Sustainability Strategy across the EU Hub. The new position will be embedded within the wider sustainability function, working under the Environmental Sustainability Leader and playing a pivotal role in supporting the development and implementation of our strategy across the business. What will the role look like? Work with the Environmental Sustainability Leader and Energy and Carbon Manager to develop and manage the corporate sustainability strategy. Be responsible for co-creating and implementing strategic sustainability work streams and action plans to ensure sustainable development throughout the organisation. Identify key industry groups and accreditation schemes for the business and develop relationship management plans for any identified. Coordinate our engagement with relevant groups and ensure learning is cascaded throughout the function. Provide technical input into engineering and technological approaches to the design and delivery of sustainable building and infrastructure assets. Work with the technical teams to model integrated designs in the area of climate change, weather resilience, energy, water balance, and material lifecycle impacts. Help to develop a Laing O'Rourke sustainability brand so that our sustainability strategy is recognised and understood across the EU Hub. Work with the Australia hub to align strategy across the business. Connect with stakeholders and communities across the business to promote sustainability and improve their education on sustainability accreditation tools, company targets and, achievements. Work with the Social Value Team to develop a bank of environmental STEM materials and initiatives and environmental volunteering opportunities that align with our Sustainability Strategy. What skills & experience are we looking for? Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies in organisations and ideally a construction setting Knowledge of environmental sustainability key concepts beyond carbon Ability to lead multiple projects and programmes Ability to lead to work with multiple stakeholders to ensure all business needs are met. Ability to understand data management in relation to environmental sustainability, including data accuracy, auditing, and reporting Don't match all the criteria?
