The Role
We are recruiting a Regional Director to lead all Travis Perkins Hire activity across the South East, South West and Wales. You will own sales, performance, customer experience and colleague engagement across a substantial, growth-focused region that includes 151 Hire branches, around 360 branch colleagues and seven direct reports in the form of Regional Sales and Operations Managers. This region contributes significant revenue and is central to our next phase of growth.
Reporting into the Managing Director for Hire, Ian Sharman-Jones, you will work closely with senior colleagues across Sales, Commercial, Finance, Safety, Fleet and Business Improvement, succeeding in a collaborative, matrix environment while setting the pace locally. The role
1. Turn the Travis Perkins strategy into action, helping colleagues translate the plan into everyday activity and ensuring customers feel our value proposition in every interaction
2. Lead, coach and develop seven Regional Sales and Operations Managers, ensuring they’re well-equipped to help every team member thrive
3. Set clear expectations for sales excellence, operational discipline and safety, championing our Stay Safe culture across every branch in your region
4. Deepen relationships with existing customers, win new ones and grow share of wallet through a true customer-first approach
5. Drive continuous improvement, scale best practice and work effectively across functions to remove barriers and accelerate results
Who are we looking for?
6. Proven, multi site senior leadership experience that empowers and inspires teams, combined with a track record of delivering today while shaping medium-term growth plans
7. Experience developing new revenue streams and building sustainable customer relationships, with first-class negotiation and influencing skills
8. Confident operating in a large, complex and matrix lead organisation
9. Genuine customer focus, commercial acuity and the discipline to set and uphold high standards for sales, operations and safety
10. Humility, emotional intelligence and the ability to shape culture, energise teams and positively challenge the norm. Sector experience is an advantage, but we also welcome leaders from relatable backgrounds
