A well-established, fully remote ecological consultancy is seeking a Senior ECoW to join their growing team. Operating across a wide geographic region, the team works on a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from small private developments to large-scale infrastructure and housing schemes.
Your new role
1. Field work logistics and review of baseline data;
2. Delivery of toolbox talks and onsite guidance to contractors;
3. Attendance and ability to present information at meetings;
4. Work in conjunction with project stakeholders to achieve project aims whilst encouraging a high level of environmental protection;
5. The use of Microsoft Word and Excel, digital photography and field technology (tablet/pda) to produce electronic outputs;
6. Operate in a variety of environments, such as remote areas or operational construction sites;
7. The delivery of the ECoW role for long and short-term projects which may require working long hours, away from home between Monday-Friday; and
8. Supporting office management and administrative tasks.
What you'll need to succeed
9. At least 3 or more years' proven Environmental/Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) experience;
10. Under/postgraduate degree in Ecology, Environmental Management or a related discipline;
11. Experience of working under Scottish (or UK) legislation;
12. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and/or of the Association of Environmental and Ecological Clerks of Works (AEECoW);
13. Confident in habitat and protected species ecology (including a range of British habitats, bats, badgers, otters, water voles etc.);
14. A good understanding of standard guidance for pollution prevention;
15. An understanding of current environmental legislation, policy trends and ecological guidance;
16. A current CSCS card or equivalent;
17. Excellent verbal and writtenmunication skills;
18. The ability to work well under pressure and undertake several tasks simultaneously;
19. At least one protected species licence is desirable but not essential;
20. Being confident andfortable working as part of a team or on your own in the outdoor environment;
21. Having to work away from home and outside office hours as necessary;
22. Good time management and record keeping;
23. A full UK driving licence;
