This role focuses on how systems are monitored, controlled, and understood – covering operator interfaces, data visualisation, alarm management, and system integration.
Responsibilities
* Own the operator interface and visualisation layer of safety‑critical systems
* Design and develop SCADA systems, including system architecture (client‑server / distributed systems) and communications (OPC UA/DA, Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
* Develop high‑quality HMI interfaces: intuitive screen design and navigation, process visualisation and mimic diagrams, consistent UI/UX standards for operator usability
* Configure and manage alarm systems (prioritisation, rationalisation, diagnostics)
* Configure and integrate SCADA/HMI platforms such as Rockwell FactoryTalk/FactoryTalk View, Schneider Citect/Vijeo Designer, Siemens WinCC, AVEVA/Wonderware
* Work closely with control systems engineers to integrate PLC data into SCADA systems
* Perform system configuration and integration, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Customer Acceptance Testing (CAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and commissioning
* Produce high‑quality technical documentation (design specs, test docs, user manuals)
* Work end‑to‑end from design through to live commissioning
Qualifications
* Degree/HND in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
* Experience developing SCADA/HMI systems in industrial environments
* Experience with one or more SCADA platforms (e.g. FactoryTalk, Citect, WinCC, Wonderware/AVEVA, etc.)
* Understanding of industrial communications (OPC, Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
* Experience with alarm handling, diagnostics, and system monitoring
* Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
Benefits
* Hybrid working (typically 2–3 days per week in the office, depending on project needs)
* Flexible working hours to support work‑life balance
