This is a fantastic opportunity to join a recently redesigned community mental health service in an CQC rated Outstanding Trust. You will join the 7 wte other consultants already leading the MDT including trainees and specialty doctors working across primary and secondary community services.
You will have a range of community responsibilities within the service providing a holistic and assertive service for working age adults with severe mental illness. The team is based at a community clinic which houses our Community Teams. The service base is close to the neighbourhood covered (Well Street Common) with good transport connections.
There is 1FTE post made available to cover for maternity leave.
The consultant psychiatrist provides input and clinical leadership to the South-East Community Mental Health Service (Well Street Common neighbourhood part). They lead the Mental Health Team with a team of a band 7 senior worker (senior nurse or social worker), band 6 nurses and social workers, community connectors (employed by the voluntary and community sector), a band 3/4 support worker, as well as access to an occupational therapist, psychologists, and peer-support worker. There is a band 8 team manager. There are also ARRS workers, which are band 7 posts employed by ELFT and working across GP surgeries and Community Mental Health Services. The consultant has a significant role in providing advice and training to GPs with the aim of increasing the skills and knowledge of GPs in the management of common mental health presentations.
