The consultancy is recognised for its excellence in landscape architecture, ecology, and environmental planning. Their ecology team undertakes a variety of projects across the UK. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about protecting the natural world, keen on conducting ecological assessments, and eager to develop creative mitigation strategies. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in promoting biodiversity and fostering sustainable relationships between development and the environment. Whilst working as an Ecologist, you will contribute to a range of ecological activities, including: - Conducting field surveys across various landscapes, focusing on protected species and habitats. - Preparing detailed ecological reports and assessments, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRA). - Developing and implementing mitigation strategies that balance ecological needs with development objectives. - Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and planners to provide ecological expertise and recommendations. The ideal candidate will ideally have; - A degree in ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline. - A strong understanding of ecological principles and practices. - Proficiency in conducting fieldwork and a thorough knowledge of UK wildlife legislation. - Membership or eligibility for membership in the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM). - Possession of protected species licences (e.g., bat or great crested newt licences) is advantageous. - A valid UK driving licence is required to facilitate travel for fieldwork and surveys. The role will include; - Planning and carrying out ecological surveys in diverse locations, occasionally requiring work in challenging environments. - Analysing ecological data and compose comprehensive reports tailored to client and regulatory requirements. - Collaborating closely with architects, planners, and ecology professionals on multidimensional projects. - Attending client meetings to represent the organization and provide informed ecological guidance.
