Make a real impact in strengthening cultural capability across Victoria's legal sector.

The Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service (VALS) is looking for a proactive and organised Training Administration Support Officer to support the delivery of the First Nations Cultural Capability Uplift (FNCCU) Project. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, purpose‑driven environment and is passionate about supporting culturally safe learning experiences.

About VALS

VALS is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation providing culturally safe legal and support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Victoria. Since 1973, we have been committed to ensuring equitable, respectful, and community‑centred legal support. We strongly encourage applicants from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ communities, and diverse cultural backgrounds to apply.

About the FNCCU Project

You'll be joining the Research & Evidence Development team - a collaborative group delivering a statewide initiative that uplifts cultural capability across the legal sector. The project works closely with partners including the Law Institute of Victoria and Victoria Legal Aid to deliver high‑quality, evidence‑informed training programs.

The Role

As the Training Administration Support Officer, you will play a key role behind the scenes, supporting smooth and culturally informed training delivery across online, metro, and regional settings. You'll manage participant communications, coordinate logistics, support evaluations, and ensure training systems operate seamlessly.

This role suits someone highly organised, detail‑focused, tech‑savvy, and comfortable engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

* Training & Event Support: Coordinate venues, catering, accommodation and travel for training delivery.
* Support the rollout of FNCCU pilot workshops and ongoing training sessions.
* Manage the training inbox and respond to enquiries professionally.
* Oversee participant enrolments, communications, certificates, records and follow‑up.
* Assist with collecting and reporting on training evaluation data.

Stakeholder Support

* Liaise with internal teams, project partners, LMS providers, and training participants.
* Coordinate approvals and communication with external providers, including branding or artwork suppliers.

LMS & Systems Support

* Manage LMS enrolments, records and data reporting.
* Troubleshoot basic LMS or IT issues and coordinate with IT support when needed.
* Compile evaluation and feedback across training activities.

General Duties

* Provide administrative, operational, and documentation support as required.
* Assist with events, meetings, and occasional regional or interstate travel.

What We're Looking For

* Experience in training administration, event coordination or project support.
* Strong digital and systems skills (Microsoft Office, LMSs, CRMs, booking platforms such as Eventbrite).
* Excellent organisation, time‑management and attention to detail.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work respectfully and confidentially with learners, trainers and staff.
* Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal communities, particularly relating to legal service access.
* Experience supporting online learning or professional development programs.
* Background in ACCOs, community legal services or similar settings is highly regarded.

Mandatory Requirements

* Employee Working With Children Check
* Victorian Driver's Licence
* National Criminal History Check
* Proof of Australian working rights

What We Offer

* 17.5% Leave Loading
* 5 additional days of annual leave on top of the standard 20 days
* Generous salary packaging up to $15,900 via Maxxia
* Opportunity to work alongside a passionate, culturally committed team
* Ongoing professional development and training opportunities
* A supportive, inclusive, and culturally safe workplace environment
