ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT (department, reporting relationships)
Working within a small Engineering Enablement team, the role will cover a wide range of projects and technologies. The team focuses on both looking ahead to ensure early technology decisions align with the long-term goals of the business and assisting in delivering larger projects as foundational services within the platform.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITY
As a hands-on software engineer within the Engineering Enablement team, collaborating with Product Development teams. The role requires knowledge of various technologies and a long-term perspective on how the engineering function should prepare to meet the product roadmap. Strong communication skills are essential to work with diverse stakeholders and shape the technical direction of the business.
Investigate product areas for performance and stability improvements.
Research new technologies and their implementation within the existing product roadmap.
Develop new services to support the wider StarCompliance platform.
Assist in realizing the architectural plan of the Star Platform.
Collaborate with Product Management to develop a technical roadmap supporting the product roadmap.
Ensure adherence to engineering best practices and coding standards.
Skills & Experience
* Experience working on enterprise-level applications.
* Knowledge of cloud computing technologies, especially Azure.
* Proven experience in developing large, complex software projects.
* Experience with relational database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
* Strong communication skills to present complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.
* Interest in collaborating across teams to find optimal solutions.
* Ability to translate loosely defined problems into strategic plans.
* Quick learner of new technical skills and frameworks.
WORKING CONDITIONS
* Standard hours per week with flexible location options, including travel to York, UK, as needed.
