We are looking for talented and flexible engineers to contribute across multiple sub-systems, including Data-Logging and Monitoring (DLM), Image Processing and Control (IPPU), Beam Director, Laser Source, and Fire Enable System (FES).
These sub-systems are critical to capturing system performance, processing sensor imagery, directing the high-energy beam, generating the laser source, and ensuring safety control functions. Responsibilities include hardware delivery, assembly, integration, testing, and certification, with opportunities to work across multiple project streams and develop cutting-edge technology.
Reporting to the Head of Equipment within the Chief Design Engineer’s organisation, this role provides scope to grow your technical expertise, lead work packages, and influence sub-system design and integration.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver and integrate critical sub-systems within the wider weapon system
* Accept and verify the physical and functional definition of hardware
* Prepare and maintain technical and certification documentation, including safety-related certification where applicable
* Support functional integration of hardware and software components
* Drive technical direction during early project lifecycle stages and clarify stakeholder needs
* Interface and manage relationships with third-party suppliers, including development of statements of work and deliverables
* Lead technical work packages and proactively manage technical risks
* Build strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience in developing complex electrical equipment or sub-systems
* Understanding of assembly, integration, testing, and certification boundaries
* Ability to engage stakeholders effectively and build collaborative relationships
* Experience working with third-party suppliers and defining technical deliverables
* Capable of leading technical work packages alongside project managers
* Flexible and adaptable to support multiple sub-system streams
* Knowledge of high-energy lasers or safety-critical systems is desirable but not essential
What We Offer:
* Company Bonus: Up to 21% of base salary, depending on grade
* Pension: Up to 14% total contribution (employer + employee)
* Flexible working arrangements: 2–3 days per week on-site
* Enhanced parental leave: Up to 26 weeks for maternity, adoption, shared parental leave, with additional enhancements for paternity, neonatal leave, and fertility support
