Role Purpose
The DSP On-Site Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a Delivery Service Partner (DSP) site, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations. This includes managing daily multi-drop delivery schedules, supervising and developing drivers, maintaining fleet and site safety, and ensuring performance standards are consistently achieved. The role requires a balance of strong leadership, operational planning, and hands-on problem solving to deliver high-quality, last-mile logistics.
Key Responsibilities
1. Scheduling and Coordination
2. Develop, plan, and manage delivery schedules to ensure timely and efficient completion of multi-drop routes.
3. Balance staffing levels, route assignments, and vehicle allocation to maximise operational efficiency.
4. Monitor dispatch times and package flow, addressing any potential delays in real-time.
5. Driver & Staff Management
6. Supervise and support Delivery Associates (drivers), providing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback.
7. Recruit, train, and onboard new staff, fostering a motivated and productive workforce.
8. Manage attendance, conduct regular performance reviews, and address disciplinary matters where necessary.
9. Lead daily team briefings, including safety updates and operational targets.
10. Vehicle & Site Management
11. Oversee vehicle allocation, daily safety checks, and maintenance scheduling to ensure roadworthiness.
12. Manage fleet utilisation, fuel efficiency, and vehicle reporting to control operational costs.
13. Ensure the delivery station is safe, well-maintained, and compliant with all health and safety regulations.
14. Issue Resolution & Compliance
15. Act as the first point of escalation for operational or delivery challenges, resolving issues swiftly to minimise disruption.
16. Ensure compliance with DSP policies, HSE regulations, and all relevant transport laws (including DfT requirements).
17. Investigate incidents, accidents, or complaints, implementing corrective action and reporting as required.
18. Performance Monitoring & Reporting
19. Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, package accuracy, and safety compliance.
20. Prepare and submit regular reports on operational performance, staffing, fleet management, and compliance issues.
21. Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and service quality.
22. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
23. Maintain clear, effective communication with drivers, supervisors, station managers, and DSP leadership.
24. Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth service delivery.
25. Represent the DSP professionally at all times, promoting a positive image of the business.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
* Proven experience in logistics, transport, or delivery operations, with a focus on multi-drop delivery.
* Strong leadership and staff management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
* Ability to organise, prioritise, and manage competing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, compliance standards, and operational procedures.
* Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
* IT literacy, including proficiency in delivery management software, scheduling systems, and reporting tools.
Desirable:
* Prior experience within DSP or another last-mile delivery provider.
* Fleet management or route optimisation experience.
* Valid UK driving licence (ability to operate delivery vans preferred).
* Recognised qualification in logistics, transport, or management.
