Nailsea School is seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Teacher of Physics to join our Science Faculty from 1st September 2026.

The successful candidate will join the Science and Technology, supported by a technician team of three. We benefit from two super labs as well as dedicated teaching classrooms. As a fully comprehensive school, the successful candidate will be expected to teach across the full ability range from KS3 to KS5. This role would be suitable for Early Career Teachers as well as more experienced colleagues.

Our Physics department consists of three specialist teachers who share a strong belief that quality-first teaching lies at the heart of what we do. We strive to take an evidence-informed approach to curriculum development and classroom practice, and we regularly give and receive coaching feedback. We would particularly welcome applications from teachers who are passionate about high-quality teaching, engage with educational research, and are keen to continually develop their practice.

The Science Faculty currently follows these exam boards at KS4 and KS5:

1. KS3 Curriculum - not exam board linked
2. KS4 follow AQA Triple or Combined Science (trilogy)
3. KS5 Biology AQA
4. KS5 Chemistry AQA
5. KS5 Physics AQA
6. KS5 Human Biology Cambridge Advanced National OCR

The successful candidate will consistently:

7. Deliver high-quality, well-structured lessons that support students of all abilities to make strong progress in Physics.
8. Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a commitment to continually developing their expertise in both Physics and pedagogy.
9. Use assessment effectively to inform teaching and provide clear, actionable feedback to students.
10. Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the Science Faculty through professional dialogue, shared planning and reflective practice.
11. Maintain high expectations for student behaviour, engagement and achievement in the classroom.
