Job Purpose
The purpose of the role is to be responsible for a portfolio of corporate insolvency engagements with a particular focus on Creditors' Voluntary Liquidations, Administrations (pre-packs and trading) and Compulsory Liquidations. You will be pro-active in progressing those cases, including to closure, in conjunction with the case/investigations manager and officeholder.
Job Role
1. Manage a portfolio of cases including Administrations (trading and pre-packs), CVLs and Compulsory Liquidations.
2. Carry out duties efficiently, thoroughly and in accordance with relevant legal and statutory obligations and the Firm's procedures.
3. Attend and contribute to strategy meetings.
4. Assist with statutory case tasks and monitor case diaries and tasks effectively using IPS Cloud.
5. Prepare periodic case reviews for review by manager.
6. Prepare progress reports, remuneration approval reports and decision procedures.
7. Set up new cases on IPS Cloud and prepare all relevant paperwork for new cases.
8. Draft case related correspondence.
9. Prepare correspondence for more complex matters for review and approval by manager.
10. Deal with initial notices to Registrar of Companies, court, advertisements and reports to creditors following appointment.
11. Set up of creditors and debtors on IPS Cloud and maintain creditors and debtor files with up-to-date control schedules.
12. Take minutes of meetings.
13. Be proactive in dealing with outstanding matters on the assignments to progress cases effectively.
14. Deal with creditor queries both via telephone and through written correspondence.
15. Liaise directly with agents and solicitors on matters.
16. Undertake full analysis of company records and bank statements, pursuant to Statement of Insolvency Practice 2 (both initial and detailed reviews).
17. Be able to identify possible antecedent investigations as part of this review.
18. Assist tax/VAT specialists within the firm to complete formal returns.
19. Prepare Director conduct reports for manager review and subsequent submission to the Insolvency Service.
20. Process and ensure that the necessary approvals are obtained for billing.
21. Process payments, receipts and journals using IPS Cloud.
22. Build strong working relationships with clients and intermediaries by attending business development events.
23. Understand the requirements of Statement of Insolvency Practice 9, record time appropriately and produce SIP 9 reports following training on the Firm's bespoke time-recording system.
24. Provide training to junior members of the team with guidance and support from management.
25. Deal with incoming and outgoing post.
26. Deal with control and custody of company records and archiving.
Person Specification
27. Strong experience in restructuring or insolvency.
28. Experience using IPS and Microsoft Office programmes (or equivalent).
29. Experience managing an insolvency portfolio and able to work effectively under pressure and to strict deadlines.
30. Experience of dealing with agents, solicitors and other stake holders.
31. Hold up to date knowledge of appropriate insolvency case law and legislation.
32. Experience of producing statutory reports relating to insolvency cases with minimal input from case managers.
33. Must be able to present a professional image to the firm's clients.
34. Good written and oral presentation skills required.
35. Ability to identify issues through sound analysis and application of commercial acumen.
36. Desire to help grow and develop the department.
37. Keen to assist with networking events.
38. Desire to develop self and others.
39. Ability to research and interpret information.
40. Professional qualifications (CPI and / or ACA) are desirable but not essential.
41. Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to demonstrate empathy in highly emotive and stressful situations.
