Job Overview
The Informatics Team Lead plays a pivotal role within the Digital Data & Technology (DDaT) Operations team, directly supporting the Information Manager to enhance and develop information services across the Trust and the wider health and care system. The role involves leading a team of Senior Information Analysts and Data Analysts, ensuring that high‑quality business intelligence and data analytics drive strategic decision‑making and operational excellence.
Main Responsibilities
* Oversee the delivery of business intelligence and analytical services that support strategic decision‑making across the Trust in key areas such as Statistics and Planning, Performance and Quality, Finance and Income Reporting, and Operational Efficiency.
* Ensure the team produces accurate and insightful reports, dashboards, and data analyses using advanced BI tools (SQL, Power BI, Qlik Sense, R) to inform clinical and operational decision‑making.
* Guide the team in applying advanced technical expertise in data manipulation, statistical analysis, and forecasting to provide actionable insights.
* Take a proactive approach to identifying patterns, trends, and signals in data sets, translating them into meaningful information that supports Trust initiatives and operational needs.
* Work closely with clinical and operational teams to understand their data and information needs, ensuring that the analytics provided are relevant, timely, and actionable.
* Support the Information Manager in engaging with senior stakeholders across the Trust to ensure that the information services provided meet organisational needs and strategic objectives.
* Communicate complex data insights clearly and effectively to a variety of stakeholders, including those with varying levels of data literacy.
* Drive continuous improvement within the team by identifying and implementing best practices in data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence.
* Collaborate with the Trust Improvement Programme Board and other DDaT teams to drive successful technology‑based change management and ensure that data services are aligned with broader digital transformation efforts.
* Maintain extensive knowledge of systems, methodologies, techniques and statistical methods for undertaking complex analysis of a variety of complex and conflicting data.
* Assist in managing the budget for the information team, identifying opportunities for cost savings and income generation through effective data management and business intelligence activities.
* Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and ethical standards such as GDPR and the Trust’s data security framework.
Person Specification
Education, Qualification and Training
* Master’s level education or equivalent senior level experience in informatics/healthcare data functions.
* Commitment and willingness to undertake ongoing training and development.
Experience
* Comprehensive experience in information management, BI, analysis and manipulation of large data sets.
* High level proficiency in BI tools – SQL, Power BI, QlikSense, R and advanced data techniques.
* Significant experience leading a team within an information or data analytics environment.
* Proven ability to translate business requirements into delivered solutions.
* Strong experience presenting complex data analyses to senior managers and other stakeholders.
* Experience managing budgets and resources in a complex environment and contributing to digital transformation initiatives.
