We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a Theatre Technician Apprentice to join the RSC's talented technical team in Stratford-upon-Avon. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience in four essential backstage areas: Lighting, Sound, Stage & Props, and Automation.
Our apprenticeship program is designed to provide a supportive pathway into a theatre career, focusing on developing your technical skills through a blend of practical work and coursework. Over the course of this 2-year apprenticeship, you will work towards achieving a Level 3 qualification.
Your Responsibilities
As a Theatre Technician Apprentice, you will:
* Gain practical skills in Lighting, Sound, Stage & Props, and Automation.
* Train and work in each department, building a solid foundation of technical knowledge.
* Choose a specialization for the final six months of your apprenticeship.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
* No degree, HND, or postgraduate qualification.
* No extensive professional backstage experience in theatre.
* Residency in the UK or EEA for the last 3 years.
* Willingness to undertake studying and assessments, including an end-point assessment.
* A genuine interest in theatre or live events.
* Self-motivated and eager to learn.
* At least 18 years old on the start date.

Working Conditions
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract for the duration of the 2-year apprenticeship. You will work:
* 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
* One day a week dedicated to off-the-job training with your training provider.
