Urgent Care Practitioner - Band 6 to 7 Development Role This is a great opportunity to build advanced clinical skills while supporting people who need timely, high-quality urgent and primary care. You'll be part of an established multi-disciplinary team delivering care to patients with a wide range of urgent and undifferentiated health needs. Your work will make a direct difference to patient safety, experience and outcomes, while supporting the delivery of evidence-based care across services. This is a development post, with structured support to help you progress into a more senior role as your skills grow.
he Bridlington Urgent Treatment Centre operates between 07:00 and 20:00.
Main duties of the job
* Assess, diagnose and treat patients using telephone, face to face and digital consultations
* Manage undiagnosed and undifferentiated illness, minor injuries and acute presentations
* Work collaboratively with partner services to provide seamless, timely care
* Use evidence-based practice, guidelines and audit to support high standards of care
* Act as a positive role model, supporting junior colleagues and safe clinical practice
Qualifications
Essential
* Degree in Nursing or Paramedic Science (Level 6) or significant experience.
* Academic modules / specialist training completed in relevant area/subject
* Professional Registration with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) or HCPCP (Health Care Professional Council)
Desirable
* Post graduate qualification in relevant subject or equivalent experience
* Teaching/Mentoring qualification
* APACS (Advanced Physical Assessment and Consultation Skills) or equivalent qualification/experience
* Non-medical prescribing qualification
Knowledge
Essential
* Significant knowledge of relevant policy and legislation, guidance and local initiatives and issues in relation to unplanned care
* Working knowledge of multidisciplinary teams
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
* Demonstrate the use of evidence-based practice
Desirable
* Highly specialised knowledge of relevant policy and legislation in relation to unplanned care
* Specialised knowledge of medication and interventions used in unplanned care
Experience
Essential
* Experience in an acute or primary care setting
* Experience of workload management and the ability to meet deadlines
* Experience of utilising a variety of software packages e.g. SystmOne, and E-Mail,
Desirable
* Experience in a specialist environment, demonstrating effective leadership and autonomy.
* Experience of multi-disciplinary team working and working with patients with minor injuries and minor illness presentations
* Experience of the initial management, stabilisation and onward referral of patients who may self-present with more serious/life threatening conditions
* Previous experience of producing reports or audits
* Ability to prioritise effectively in a clinical environment
* Previous leadership and management experience within a clinical setting
* Experience and competency in supervision and support of others including the prioritisation of patient care e.g. junior staff, non-registered staff and students
