Located in the old steelworks in Ebbw Vale in South East Wales, Gwent Archives delivers an archive service for Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, Caerphilly County Borough Council, Monmouthshire County Council, Newport City Council and Torfaen County Borough Council.
Following a recent internal promotion, Gwent Archives is looking to appoint a Community Engagement Archivist on a permanent basis. The post-holder will plan and deliver activities to introduce archives to new audiences, widen access and to generally increase knowledge and understanding of the historic collections. They will engage with schools, universities and communities, developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with these stakeholders.
Along with other skills, knowledge and experience, the successful candidate will be a qualified Archivist and will have an excellent understanding of education and lifelong learning. They will be familiar with sources held in local authority archive services and experience of working with a range of partners.
