We are looking for an enthusiastic and suitably experienced Deputy Chief Operating Officer (DCOO) to join our senior leadership team at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

The DCOO will work closely with the Executive Chief Operating Officer, ensuring effective service delivery across clinical and non-clinical areas while championing collaboration and compassionate leadership. This is a key leadership role in which you will play a pivotal part in shaping the Trust's future, driving operational excellence, and delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

Based in Carlisle but working across the full Trust footprint and working closely with colleagues in the Senior Leadership Team, you will Deputise for the Executive Chief Operating Officer, providing strong and visible leadership across the organisation. A key focus of the role is to drive performance improvement in key areas and standards and have oversight of areas such as the elective recovery programme.

Leading on capacity and demand planning, modelling and delivery of key programmes is a key responsibility for the DCOO, together with championing patient safety, quality and operational efficiency across the Trust's services.

You will play a vital role in delivering our ambitious agenda, supporting the Executive Chief Operating Officer in developing the operational excellence and leadership within the Trust so that it can provide high quality services which are fit for the future in beautiful north Cumbria

Job summary

This role is part of the Senior Leadership Team reporting directly to the Executive Chief Operating Officer.

The postholder will work alongside the 8 Clinical Collaborative Chairs and Associate Directors of Operation(s) for both Urgent and Emergency Care and Planned Care leading on the safe, responsive and effective delivery of services.

The DCOO role will provide day to day senior operational leadership to our clinical collaboratives and general manager colleagues supported by the ADOs. Providing oversight and assurance of efficient operational processes and systems designed to deliver the best care for our patients with an operating environment aligned to our organisational values of kindness, respect, ambition and collaboration.
