The post holder will provide clinical leadership in the delivery of the Podiatry Service within vascular/diabetes and MSK disciplines. They will lead on aspects of the delivery plan for their specialty and overall, this will support the podiatry service plan for Hywel Dda. They will provide specialist podiatry advice to the Community Podiatry Team and professionals in other fields. The clinical job plan will be to work with core hospital services for both diabetes/vascular and MSK podiatry services. This will involve working with vascular services, CMAT service and Orthopaedic outpatient clinics in line with service need., In order to support the latter, the post holder will be required to develop specialist skills allowing for requesting of diagnostic imaging, and blood investigations. There will be an expectation that other extended aspects of practice such as Diagnostic Ultrasonography and Independentprescribing may be required as the post is developed. The postholder will be expected to engage with the HB Vascular Pathway and work in Consultant Orthopaedic/Vascular outpatient clinics and within the MIU setting. The podiatrist will also be involved in the triage of the GP referred patients to the HB, undertaking assessment, treatment and independent discharge. The post holder will also provide a quality service by practicing as a highly specialist autonomous practitioner. This will involve autonomously managing a varied patient caseload where the post holder is required to plan, modify and carry out complex assessment, diagnosis and intervention, demonstrating autonomous clinical judgments where expert opinion differs due to anambiguous or absent evidence base.
