Overview
Site Engineer (Technical) role at Serco. Location: Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. Contract: Fixed term 12 months. Hours: 37.5 per week. Salary: £51,000 - £60,000 per annum plus Serco benefits.
Responsibilities
* Be the contract lead on all technical issues and manage and work with internal and external technical specialists to ensure compliance with relevant technical standards.
* Responsible together with the Site Engineer (Maintenance) for liaising with NHS customers, High Wood Health and Laing O’Rourke to minimise disruption to hospital operations.
* Work with the Site Engineer (Maintenance) to ensure delivery of all Hard FM maintenance activity and assume responsibility for the service during periods of absence.
* Be responsible for all aspects of technical compliance and act as Responsible Person and Authorising Person for the relevant technical disciplines.
* Oversee Lifecycle and New Works activity on site and liaise with all relevant parties.
* Manage and liaise with NHS, High Wood Health and Laing O’Rourke in respect of all defect issues and activity.
* Understand the operation of mechanical, electrical and electronic systems in NHS hospitals (e.g., lifts, medical gases, boiler plant, AHU/conditioning, fire alarm systems, communications, control theory).
* Lead liaison with Authorising Engineers to maintain safe systems of work and manage technical audits and close out audit reports.
* Undertake Responsible Person (RP) and Authorised Person (AP) duties for all disciplines within professional competency.
* Co-ordinate building surveys, agree access requirements and arrange insurance inspections.
* Plan and cost low, medium and high value change notices and deliver project work.
* Participate in the On-Call rota.
Qualifications and Experience
* Several years in a middle management role as a minimum.
* Educated to at least HNC/HND level in an engineering discipline, with relevant experience in a maintenance environment.
* Experience in a similar role within a large complex service, commercially astute with the ability to meet contractual KPI requirements.
* Conversant with mechanical, electrical and electronic systems in a healthcare environment (lifts, refrigeration, boiler plant, AHU/conditioning, fire alarm systems, communications, control theory).
* Ability to hold Authorised Person responsibilities relevant to their engineering discipline.
* Direct line management experience of staff.
* Able to work to tight deadlines in a demanding environment and understand customer care in healthcare.
* Willingness to access technical areas such as roof spaces, plant rooms, confined spaces, boiler houses and energy centres.
