Job Overview
The Accountant - Directorate Support role is integral to ensuring strong financial management across the Council's services, with a unique focus on supporting the Tees Valley Energy Recovery Limited (TVERL) programme. You will work closely with budget holders and senior officers, providing financial analysis, supporting budget monitoring, and contributing to business cases and financial planning. In addition, you will play a key role in shaping financial processes and reporting for this major regional infrastructure project, offering a rare opportunity to gain exposure to complex, high-value activity while developing your technical expertise and building strong relationships across services. We are particularly keen to attract experienced finance professionals from the public sector (local government, education, health or similar), who can bring strategic insight and quickly establish credibility within a complex environment.
