Join to apply for the Consultant in Obstetric Anaesthesia role at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Applications are invited for a full-time substantive post for a consultant in anaesthesia with a special interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia. The successful applicant would join a team of 12 obstetric subspecialty anaesthetists who undertake a mix of obstetric and adult practice and currently 10 contribute to the on-call rota.
The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is part of the Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group, in partnership with The James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust. All future senior medical and dental appointments are expected to work across the Group and potentially at more than one site, depending on service needs.
Responsibilities
* Provide anaesthesia for obstetric cases as a member of the obstetric anaesthesia team.
* Carry a share of clinical responsibilities within the Department of Anaesthesia, including peri-operative assessment.
* Provide anaesthesia for adult patients in all specialties as appropriate to training and experience.
* Participate in the Trust’s Clinical Governance programme, including clinical audit, guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.
* On-call commitment of approximately 1:10 for obstetric anaesthesia out-of-hours urgent and emergency cases.
* Collaborate across hospital sites as required by future care models and group needs.
* Be a member of the Consultant Staff Committee.
* Affirm the appointment to the Trust (not to a specific hospital).

Site of employment includes Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with potential cross-site responsibilities within the Group.

Requirements and Qualifications
Substantial post-qualification experience in anaesthesia with a special interest in obstetric anaesthesia. Eligible for consultant-level registration and able to fulfil on-call duties as described.
