Role Description
As Senior Project Manager you will be responsible for directing the successful delivery of complex projects from initiation to completion. This role requires strategic oversight, effective leadership, and strong communication skills to ensure projects align with organisational goals, meet stakeholder expectations, and are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
As Senior Project Manager you will play a key role in driving project performance, managing risks, and fostering collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
This role requires a proactive, results-driven professional who can balance technical expertise, team leadership, and stakeholder management to deliver impactful outcomes.
Role Accountabilities
Key accountabilities include:
* Project Leadership
Spearhead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
* Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
* Resource Management
Allocate and manage resources effectively, including team members, budgets, and tools, to maximize efficiency and project outcomes.
* Risk and Issue Management
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks, while proactively addressing issues to minimize impact on project progress.
* Reporting and Communication
Provide clear and timely updates on project status, progress, and key milestones to stakeholders and leadership teams.
* Team Leadership
Inspire, motivate, and guide project teams, fostering collaboration and accountability while resolving conflicts where necessary.
* Process Improvement
Drive continuous improvement in project management processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
As a Senior Project Manager, you must possess a balanced combination of technical expertise, leadership abilities, and interpersonal skills to successfully deliver complex projects. This role requires a proactive, results-driven professional who can manage competing priorities, align teams, and drive impactful outcomes for Arcadis
Qualifications & Experience
As Senior Project Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of construction projects across key sectors, including education, infrastructure, housing, and large-scale complex developments. This role requires a deep understanding of project management practices, construction processes, local authority governance and sector-specific challenges, paired with the ability to inspire teams, manage stakeholders, and ensure successful project outcomes.
* Sector Knowledge
Strong understanding of the specific requirements and challenges within education, infrastructure, housing, and complex developments, including regulatory compliance and stakeholder expectations.
* Construction Processes
In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, industry standards, and best practices, with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and contractors. Risk Management: Skilled in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks in construction projects to ensure smooth delivery and minimize disruption.
* Financial Acumen
Proficiency in managing budgets, cost control, and financial reporting to ensure projects are delivered within agreed financial parameters.
* Technical Knowledge
Understanding of relevant software tools (e.g., MS Project, BIM) and processes to support project delivery and collaboration.
* Contract Administration
A strong understanding and practical experience in administering NEC contracts, including the preparation and management of contractual documentation, change control processes, early warning notifications, and compensation events.
* Regulatory Awareness
Familiarity with planning permissions, building regulations, CDM 2015, Building Safety Act and environmental considerations.
* Leadership Skills
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, drive collaboration, and foster a culture of accountability and excellence.
* Track Record
Demonstrate a proven track record in successfully delivering projects across a range of sectors, including education, infrastructure, housing, and large-scale complex developments. This includes managing projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while effectively addressing sector-specific challenges and stakeholder requirements.
