Role Summary
As Principal Data Scientist, you’ll lead high‑impact data science initiatives, shaping the future of OVO’s data science practice, driving innovation, and aligning data science outputs with OVO’s mission to build a sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor data science teams, driving adoption of modern tools and best practices.
* Architect and deliver high‑impact projects aligned with strategic business goals.
* Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams, embedding data science into products and decisions.
* Define technical strategy and roadmap informed by emerging trends and business needs.
* Lead research into advanced techniques, publishing findings and representing OVO at industry events.
* Ensure model quality and reliability, establishing standards for development, validation, and deployment.
* Build and grow the data science Community of Practice, mentoring peers and fostering continuous learning.
Qualifications
* Proven leadership in complex, high‑impact data science initiatives.
* Deep expertise in machine learning, statistical methods, and algorithm development.
* Proficiency in Python or R and advanced SQL.
* Experience evaluating and applying emerging tools and technologies.
* Ability to develop and execute data science strategies aligned with business objectives.
* Strong communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
* Collaborative mindset with cross‑functional teams.
* Track record of technical mentorship, continuous innovation, and best‑practice adherence.
Benefits & Compensation
Salary range: £116,500 – £154,588.
On‑target bonus of up to 15% and 9% flex pay, with 4% auto‑enrolled into pension.
34 days holiday, including bank holidays.
