Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Dementia Adviser to join Alzheimer's Society in Rhondda-Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team of Dementia Advisors working in Rhondda-Cynon-Taf and Merthyr Tydfil. You will also support colleagues in Bridgend as part of the wider Cwm-Taf-Morgannwg team. You will play a crucial role in helping people navigate the complexities of dementia. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of those affected by dementia, providing essential advice and guidance at some of their most challenging times. We strive to help maintain independence, improving sense of well-being, and putting people in more control of their own lives. We promote a person-centred service so that our support is unique to everyone, based upon their own aspirations and needs.
Interviews will take place on the 6th October, face to face in Cardiff.
Responsibilities
* Help people navigate the complexities of dementia by providing essential advice and guidance during challenging times.
* Support independence, well-being, and person-centred service, tailoring support to each person 0s aspirations and needs.
* Collaborate with the Dementia Advisory team and colleagues across the Cwm-Taf-Morgannwg area, including Bridgend.
* Use IT systems to manage referrals and record case notes.
* Assess people face-to-face to understand their needs and determine appropriate support.
* Deliver presentations and contribute to public-speaking activities as required.
Qualifications
* Understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and non-judgmental support.
* Proactive, organised, and able to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
* Familiarity with IT systems to manage referrals and record case notes.
* Experience in assessing people face-to-face and identifying their needs.
* Confidence in public speaking and presenting information.
