Overview
We are recruiting a Research Nurse to join the Research & Development Team at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, which is part of East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust.
Key Responsibilities
* Recruit patients for clinical trials via local DGH teams and within the Cancer Centre.
* Promote studies to referral hospitals and coordinate the care of trial participants.
* Administer study medications and ensure safe administration of experimental drugs.
* Monitor expected and unexpected side effects of investigational treatments.
* Screen and identify eligible patients and maintain detailed knowledge of trial protocols.
* Attend outpatient clinics to assist with recruitment and data collection; attend inpatient settings as required.
* Act as contact point and coordinator for patients and families, providing information and support, and referring to other professional agencies.
* Assist in background information provision for potential trials to obtain approvals from Research Governance and Local Ethics Committees.
* Participate in protocol review, advise on specialised equipment and resources, and ensure ethical issues are addressed.
