We are working with a well-established, multidisciplinary building services consultancy seeking an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer looking to further develop their technical skills while contributing to a diverse portfolio of innovative and sustainable projects.
The role can be based in Leicester, Birmingham City Centre or Solihull, operating within a flexible and agile working framework.
The Role
As an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer, you will support the delivery of high-quality electrical building services designs across a range of sectors, including healthcare, education, residential, commercial and industrial.
You will be involved at all stages of projects, from concept through to completion, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment while continuing to build your professional experience.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to a wide variety of technically challenging projects
Participate in all project stages, from initial design through to final delivery
Produce drawings, specifications and technical documentation
Carry out electrical design calculations using both manual and software-based methods
Monitor your own work to ensure delivery aligns with programme, quality and budget requirements
Liaise with other design disciplines to understand client requirements and assist in selecting appropriate solutions and equipment
Support technical coordination across multiple disciplines
Attend and represent the business at selected project meetings
Incorporate sustainability principles and low/zero carbon technologies into designs
Undertake site visits and review contractor installations to ensure compliance with design intent
Engage in Continued Professional Development (CPD) to remain current with industry standards and emerging technologies
Develop a broader understanding of mechanical systems to support multidisciplinary collaboration
About You
Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (HNC/HND also considered)
Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience in building services design
Experience using design software such as Microsoft Office, Relux/Dialux, Amtech and Revit
Knowledge of British and European Standards and Building Regulations
Awareness of HTMs (desirable but not essential)
Working towards or holding professional membership (CIBSE, IET or similar)
Understanding of renewable technologies and sustainable design integration
Working knowledge of BREEAM
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
Proactive, organised and eager to develop professionally
