Band 6 Occupational Therapist – Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join us as Band 6 Occupational Therapists across Hampshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT). This is a 9‑month rotational post with a diverse range of clinical areas.
Clinical Settings
* Front Door (Emergency Department & Acute Assessment Unit) – RHCH & BNHH
* Medicine – RHCH & BNHH
* Coronary Care, Oncology & Gynaecology – BNHH
* Surgery – RHCH & BNHH
* Long‑Term Conditions and Elderly Care – RHCH & BNHH
* In‑patient Rehabilitation – Kingfisher Ward, AWMH
* Therapy Supported Discharge Team – RHCH
The successful candidate will have a broad range of relevant clinical experience and demonstrate a real passion for the inpatient acute hospital setting, acute rehabilitation, and complex discharge planning from a therapy perspective. You will work as part of the acute therapy team within a multidisciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Practitioners and Therapy Assistants.
As a Band 6 you will promote patient independence with a focus on providing early acute inpatient rehabilitation, assessing patients’ current needs, delivering ongoing acute therapy interventions and planning discharge. Your therapy assessments will inform appropriate discharge planning from the hospital setting, according to patients’ holistic needs.
You will receive robust peer support from fellow Band 6 therapists, regular formal and clinical supervision by a Band 7 therapist, and opportunities to lead on service improvement projects and supervise therapy colleagues across the spectrum of therapy staff and students.
Employment is based in Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital (approximately 50 miles from London and 30 miles from the south coast) and Royal Hampshire County Hospital (Winchester). The role requires holding a manual driving licence.
