Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulatory Officer - Field Based - 31634

The Regulatory Officer role will be based in the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) team within Batteries, WEEE and Shipments, part of Environmental Markets and Regulation. We’re a national team with officers based across England. National travel and overnight stays will be required.
We are looking for professional, enthusiastic people to join our team of Regulatory Officers. You will regulate a range of businesses operating within the Producer Responsibility regime, ensuring that producers, reprocessors, and exporters of waste comply with their responsibilities.
Every day will be different, but your responsibilities will include:
1. Undertaking audits (both on site and virtual)
2. Taking appropriate enforcement action when necessary
3. Disrupting non-compliance
4. Collating and analysing complex data to help make evidence-based decisions on regulation compliance
5. Handling confidential and sensitive information within data protection guidelines
6. Contributing to the development and improvement of processes and procedures
The role is varied, vital, and challenging. Being able to work as part of a dispersed team yet be self-motivated and disciplined is essential.

The team consists of Regulatory Officers, Senior Technical Officers, and Digital Specialists. We are friendly, supportive, and dedicated. Our goals include improving recycling quality, monitoring compliance, and ensuring adherence to the Regulators code.
Experience and skills required:
* Various experiences demonstrating interpersonal skills; waste industry or regulatory experience is not necessary as full training will be provided
* Enjoy working outdoors and in an office environment
* Effective, organized, and able to prioritize
* Rational and composed
* IT and computer literate
* Comfortable with numbers and large data sets
* Passionate about the environment and eager to learn about regulation/enforcement
Additional skills include handling confrontational situations, adapting communication styles, working within a team, and recording information accurately.
