About the role
Perform both account risk assessments and field inspections of Construction accounts with a focus on Construction All-Risk (CAR). Communicate findings to underwriters to help them with their decision making. Work with our clients to establish loss control services, understand findings of loss control visits and implement loss control recommendations. Contribute to organizational projects to enhance the effectiveness of the team.
How you'll make an impact
* Analyse Construction projects and investigate the potential construction exposures for insurance purposes;
* Be a leader in Construction reviews and provide engineering support to underwriters for our large portfolio of construction policies;
* Be an autonomous operator to ensure projects and reviews are delivered in accordance with our operating guidelines;
* Manage the Client Service Process including service plan development, service co-ordination, report reviews, stewardship meetings with our core clients;
* Produce detailed Account Summary Reports for underwriting purposes to convey understanding of exposure for Construction Projects;
* Undertake field surveys to monitor the progression of construction projects at core milestones within a programme;
* Liaise with clients to mitigate exposures during construction project and develop relationships with core clients. The goal is to improve risk quality for our insured accounts.
What you\'ll need to succeed
* Chartered or near Chartered status with a bachelor or master’s degree in Civil Engineering
* Significant experience in the construction industry that may entail rail, roads, bridges, wind turbines, tunnels, dams, nuclear, water systems, and buildings;
* Experience of major civil engineering projects is essential and experience on international experience is desirable.
* Strong awareness of Geotechnical elements for construction;
* Experience in the design and execution phases of construction, and a strong understanding of structural assessments, temporary works, and modern methods of construction (MMC).
* Proven ability to conduct surveys of construction projects, identify risks, and quickly build effective working relationships to gather information and gain insights.
* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential. A high level of proficiency in both verbal and written English is required, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to a non-technical audience.
* Fluent in German, both written and speaking is highly desirable.
* Able to undertake international travel for up to 90 days per year.
