GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Behaviour Mentor to work within a specialist educational setting, providing consistent, structured, and empathetic support to pupils who require tailored behavioural interventions. About the Role / Role Overview This position involves working closely with students aged between 5 and 16 who present with SEMH needs. The successful candidate will act as a trusted adult and role model, helping to de-escalate challenging behaviours and support emotional regulation throughout the school day. You will work collaboratively with a strong pastoral and SEN team to ensure that pupils have access to a nurturing and safe learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver well-structured, creative, and inclusive lessons aligned to the National Curriculum. Foster a supportive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages active learning. Work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching assistants, and SLT to ensure pupil progress and wellbeing. Track and assess pupil learning and adapt teaching to meet varying needs. Promote high expectations for behaviour and achievement. Participate in staff meetings, INSETs, and wider school life. Demonstrate a reflective and professional attitude toward CPD and career growth. Job Requirements: Must hold valid Team-Teach certification. Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or in a behavioural support role. A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting behaviour. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships. A good understanding of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches is highly desirable.
