SEN Assistant Head, Maternity Cover FTC
Location: Wilmslow, Cheshire East
Salary: Leadership Scale Level 1 to 3 £, to £, (depending on experience and qualifications)
Hours: Full-Time – hours per week – Fixed Term Contract until Easter 7

About Us
Aurora Summerfields School opened in April 3 and is already making a meaningful impact. With a proposed capacity of students, we are an independent specialist school supporting children and young people aged 5– with Autism spectrum conditions and associated challenges in accessing education.

The Role
We’re seeking an exceptional Assistant Head Teacher to join our Senior Leadership Team. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the school, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion, and wellbeing.
You will:
1. Lead by example, modelling outstanding SEN practice and a positive, inclusive ethos.
2. Support the Head of School in delivering high standards of teaching and learning across the curriculum.
3. Champion staff development through coaching, mentoring, and professional learning.
4. Oversee transitions for pupils at key stages and into post- pathways.
5. Promote emotional wellbeing by liaising with internal and external support services.
6. Contribute to school improvement through data analysis, lesson observations, and strategic planning.
7. Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of your team and deputize for the Head of School when required.
Skills and Qualifications

8. Has successful experience teaching pupils with ASC and ADHD.
9. Has held a leadership role and contributed to school improvement.
10. Demonstrates excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
11. Is passionate about inclusive education and staff development.
12. Has strong knowledge of Ofsted, Independent School Standards, and school development planning.
Requirements
13. Degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
14. Enhanced DBS with Barred List Check
15. UK Driving Licence
16. Eligibility to work in the UK
17. Willingness to travel occasionally for training
