DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The new centralised Audience Insights team purpose is to be independent thought leaders at the heart of Channel 4’s creative and commercial decision-making, bringing a single source of truth and big picture perspective, challenging and advising the business to ensure profitable business growth through the use of data.
The Insight Business Partner Team works with Exec & C-Suite members to prioritise and agree their insight requirements in line with the strategic Channel 4 pillars. Streaming & Social Insight is one of these 4 pillars within the overall BP Team, working with the Streaming Business Director and their Senior Leaders to deliver specialist insight in the streaming & social space, and working closely with the other BP pillars to drive overall audience understanding & impact.
The BP Team work together with the Insight Specialists (research, data analytics, reporting & data enablement) to get the best answer to the business challenges. These teams are experts in their areas & strive to deliver best practise across the organisation.
Job Purpose
Working under the direction of the Lead Insight Business Partner, Streaming & Social this role drives better business decisions by translating strategic questions into clear insights, coordinating the right expertise, and delivering actionable recommendations for Channel 4.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner closely with the Streaming & Social Lead Insight BP & key stakeholders to gather clear and concise briefs that define the scope, goals and key questions for analysis.
* Translate business objectives and questions into actionable analytical / research plans that ensure the appropriate data is captured and analysed to meet those goals.
* Analyse large amounts of data across a variety of sources, condensing them into clear actionable insights, with a focus on storytelling.
* Leverage first‑party data, BARB, and internal tools and dashboards to answer requests and support trading/performance reporting, and wider projects.
* Where appropriate, collaborate with Specialist Insight teams (analytics & research) to define the best approach to solving more complex business challenges and questions.
* Conduct or commission qualitative or quantitative research (when required).
* Report clear & actionable insights which get embedded into the Social & Streaming function to enable decision making.
* Support the self-service capability across the Streaming and Social teams through engagement & training with available tools.
* Support the team with larger insight projects throughout the year to present to key stakeholders, in partnership with the lead BP.
Specifically
* Manage and coordinate strategic and optimisation projects that drive Channel 4 streaming and social growth. This could include: social platform optimisation, audience prioritisation & segmentation, subscription headroom analysis & research, to UX research tracking and platform performance.
* Manage the development and delivery of trading performance insights, with a particular focus on Channel 4’s streaming and/or social performance, to inform timely decision-making and drive commercial outcomes.
* Manage and coordinate the delivery of reporting dashboards to enable self-service capability across the streaming and social teams. This includes agreeing requirements with stakeholders, communicating them to internal teams, and testing and feeding back on progress.

* Key stakeholders in designated business area under direction of Lead BP (clarifying the work, agreeing relevant data & analysis required, reporting back with output)
* Role is potential succession for Senior Insight Business partner. Specialist team Research or Insights Analyst (Horizontal move)
* No people responsibility and no direct financial accountability
Essential Skills and Experience
* Strategic storytelling: ability to translate complex data to clear, impactful messages and bring well considered, valued recommendations to drive decision-making.
* Insight capability: strong understanding of different insight disciplines (data analytics, research and reporting), with ability to recommend best approaches to answering different business questions/objectives.
* Gravitas & Confidence: experience of engaging with stakeholders, with ability to forge strong partnerships. Capabilities include personal confidence, emotional intelligence, and capability to challenge, advise and recommend solutions.
* Data Analysis: ability to work with large datasets from different sources (streaming & social data) to identify trends & patterns and distil into actionable insights.
* Collaboration: strong ability to foster collaboration across teams and functions to deliver aligned, high-impact insight.
* Trading/Performance Insight: strong commercial acumen with experience managing trading/performance insights that directly inform and optimise business performance.
* Project Management: skilled in managing both internal and external teams (including research agencies), ensure delivery to brief, on time and to a high standard.
* Experience with analytical tools: proficiency in querying large volumes of data via SQL to conduct data analysis. Additional experience/understanding of modelling and forecasting is desired, but not essential.
* Advanced MS Office skills: proficiency in advanced Excel functions to clean, analyse, and visualise large datasets, and proficiency in PowerPoint to create engaging story-led deliverables.
* Experience with research: direct experience of designing and/or managing research studies, particularly UX research, both quantitative and qualitative (desired).
* Experience with industry tools: experience using industry research tools e.g. TechEdge (BARB), TGI, Touchpoints (desired).
* Innovation Mindset: active interest in evolving insight tools, methods, and thinking to enhance strategic value and relevance.
