Azure Technical Architect (Active SC Clearance)
Overview
This role sits within a major transformation programme focused on building secure, scalable, and resilient cloud platforms on Microsoft Azure. You’ll take ownership of architectural direction across multiple applications and services, ensuring solutions are aligned with both immediate delivery needs and long-term technology strategy.
Working Pattern
Hybrid working - 2 days per week onsite in Taunton
The Role
As a Technical Architect, you’ll define and govern architecture across cloud-native and hybrid environments, acting as the technical authority across delivery teams.
You’ll work closely with engineering, QA, and delivery stakeholders to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment across all solutions.
Core responsibilities include:
* Designing architecture blueprints for Azure-hosted applications
* Defining coding, configuration, and architectural standards
* Collaborating with developers, testers, and wider delivery teams
* Overseeing CI/CD pipeline design and integration
* Ensuring security, compliance, and governance standards are met
* Documenting architectural decisions and maintaining technical artefacts
* Conducting architecture reviews and resolving complex design challenges
* Identifying opportunities for modernisation and platform improvement
What You’ll Bring
* Strong experience designing solutions on Microsoft Azure
* Background in microservices, APIs, and integration patterns
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and automation
* Understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards
* Strong stakeholder communication and documentation skills
* Ability to balance innovation with risk in complex environments
Nice to Have
* Exposure to DevOps or DevSecOps practices
* Experience within regulated or enterprise-scale environments
* Knowledge of performance optimisation and monitoring
* Familiarity with hybrid cloud and on-premise integration
