Role Overview This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small, established accountancy practice in a key leadership role. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in hands-on bookkeeping and SME finance, overseeing a team and delivering high-quality financial support to a diverse client portfolio. This role will suit an experienced Office Manager or Finance Manager seeking to apply their skills in a dynamic and client-focused environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of bookkeeping staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Oversee a personal client portfolio, delivering bookkeeping, quarterly accounts, payroll processing, and HMRC submissions. Prepare and present detailed management accounts for clients. Maintain bookkeeping records up to trial balance. Process and submit VAT returns and journals, and manage payroll functions. Serve as the main point of contact for client queries, providing exceptional service. Resolve escalated issues in a timely and professional manner. Promote continuous improvement through innovation and adoption of modern technologies. Skills & Experience Minimum of five years’ experience in a bookkeeping or finance role within an SME. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Proficient in Sage; experience with Xero and QuickBooks is desirable. Confident user of Microsoft Office applications. Payroll experience is preferred, with training available if required. High attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Personable, approachable, and confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. Offering Salary dependent on experience. 35-hour working week: Monday–Thursday (9:00–17:00) and Friday (8:30–16:00). Company pension scheme. Free parking near the office.
