About the role
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
We are looking for an Environment Project Manager to join our Operations Strategy, Transformation and Environment team. In this role, you will manage the execution of critical projects and initiatives within the Environment Portfolio that directly improve our environmental sustainability capabilities and performance across the organisation.
As an Environment Project Manager, you will manage and execute a diverse range of projects focused on environmental sustainability within Group Operations. You will act as the delivery engine for our environmental strategy which is delivered by a cross-operations team. You will collaborate with departments across operations and the wider business to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with our organisational commitments.
Responsibilities
* Managing project plans across scope, timelines, and budgets from start to finish.
* Coordinating cross‑functional teams and subject matter experts to meet delivery milestones.
* Supporting the smooth adoption of new environmental processes and solutions through change management.
* Tracking progress, risks and issues, and taking action to keep projects on track.
* Leading project meetings and keeping key stakeholders informed and engaged.
* Facilitating retrospectives and post‑implementation reviews to capture lessons learned and refine future project delivery.
* Supporting the Environment Portfolio Manager and team with business‑as‑usual activities.
About You
You are an experienced project manager with a strong track record of delivering projects to time and budget and working confidently with a wide range of stakeholders. You are organised, proactive, and able to turn complex plans into clear progress and outcomes.
Key Qualifications
* Experience managing projects end to end, including planning, delivery, risk, and issue management.
* Strong stakeholder collaboration and cross‑functional working skills.
* Confidence in tracking progress, reporting on performance, and maintaining clear project documentation.
* Knowledge of project management principles and methods (e.g. PRINCE2, APMP or similar), or a willingness to work towards a formal qualification.
Desirable
* Experience working on environmental or sustainability related projects.
* Experience of project reporting, KPIs or portfolio governance.
* Experience working across global teams or complex organisational environments.
