An exciting opportunity is available to join Ward 2 management team as Deputy Ward Manager. Ward 2 is a Female Acute Inpatient unit within Mary Seacole House, Birmingham. Please note, this post is not advertised as a permanent position; it is to cover maternity leave.
You will be supported to develop your skills in clinical leadership, supporting your team, and driving positive outcomes for our patients and carers, taking a holistic and flexible approach to nursing and a person-centred recovery.
You must be able to cover a 24/7 rota, including night shifts. We are currently considering flexible working requests but not those that exclude night working due to current service needs.
Main duties of the job
Ward 2 is a 14-bed adult female inpatient unit supporting women in crisis requiring acute inpatient admission. Working with this client group, you will develop knowledge and experience of working with complex mental illness, dual diagnosis, challenging presentations, and complex social situations.
As a deputy ward manager, your responsibilities will include:
* Leading on clinical issues and safeguarding concerns
* Supporting a positive and professional working environment that supports the team and patients' ongoing recovery
* Encouraging staff development, helping them identify and build on their strengths, and addressing gaps in knowledge, skills, or experience
* Being a reflective and supportive leader, engaging in ongoing development
* Being a positive role model, advocating for positive change, and supporting the team through challenging times with a solutions-focused approach
* Direct line management, including annual appraisals, regular management supervision, oversight of staff training compliance, and addressing development needs of a subset of the team
