We require a full-time agency worker to provide Project Support for the Stop Smoking Project Support Officer in Public Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for communicating with patients directly on a daily basis, managing the throughflow of internal and external telephone calls for the Stop Smoking Team, and prioritising and taking appropriate action, including issuing urgent prescription requests when necessary. They will also manage the throughflow of internal and external written correspondence with patients, keeping records updated through the Quit Manager database, as required.
The role will involve providing an effective link with Stop Smoking Service providers, including Primary Care, Pharmacy, and other internal and external contacts. The post holder will need to exercise appropriate judgment to ensure that enquiries or contacts are effectively sifted and rerouted. They will act as a focal point for incoming calls, responding to potentially difficult and sensitive issues with an empathetic approach and relaying information to the appropriate manager to ensure that matters are dealt with as a matter of urgency.
Additionally, the successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the Smokefree Bedfordshire Website, updating content, newsfeeds, and supporting service users via the one-to-one online support function. They will also assist with the regular undertaking of public involvement surveys with potential, past, and current service users, collating responses in a central database to pass on comments, compliments, and complaints to the customer relations team. Finally, they will check all incoming invoices from Primary Care and community-based smoking cessation services, ensuring that all data are captured on the Quit Manager database.
