We are recruiting Night Support Workers for Willowgate, a new programme based in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire. The programme provides short term accommodation for people at risk of homelessness and will comprise of 15 self-contained units suitable for individuals, families and couples.

The Night Support Worker will work closely with people accessing the programme, South Lanarkshire Council and the wider community to help people achieve their goals and move on to more settled accommodation. The post holder will ensure the wellbeing of the people we support, maintain building security, respond to emergencies and record all relevant information to ensure continuity of support.

You will also ensure we maintain a high quality, safe environment and positive and respectful relationships with those we support, our colleague’s and others by providing appropriate levels of support and regular welfare and security checks during the night.

This is a really exciting opportunity for a new team to make their mark, help shape the programme and provide meaningful support to people facing homelessness.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

1. Provide appropriate levels of high-quality support to those we support during nighttime hours.
2. Utilise detailed support plans to record and assess the progress of the people you are supporting
3. Arrange and facilitate key work meetings to develop and review support plans in collaboration with the people we support to meet their individual needs both within the service and out with
4. Accurately record matters relating to the wellbeing of those we support
5. Compile and review risk assessments for the people we support
6. Develop life skills with those we support, including how to maximise income, involvement in meaningful activities, budgeting, shopping, cooking and any other skills that aid to independence
7. Plan, implement and develop workshops or programme activities with those we support
8. Assist the people we support with engaging and integrating into the local community, supporting their independence and preparation for the next step of their journey

Applicants are expected to have experience from working in a similar role and/or environment, with experience of leading/supervising a staff team, or be able to demonstrate leadership skills. You will have an understanding of what people are going through when facing homelessness and how this affects their day to day lives. Knowledge of current relevant policies relating to housing and social care is an advantage.

You will have a compassionate nature, be non-judgemental and you will be an excellent communicator, able to build supportive and trusting relationships with your team and the people we support.

What you can expect from us...

9. You will report to the Senior Support Worker
10. Working hours are 35 per week worked Monday to Friday between the hours of 9.30pm and 8.30am depending on the needs of the service.
11. Your main place of work is 12 Clydesdale Street, Hamilton, ML3 0DP
12. Annual leave entitlement of hours (equivalent to six weeks) pro rata per year in the first year rising to hours (equivalent to eight weeks) pro rata per year in the second
13. You will be automatically enrolled into the People’s Pension provided you meet the auto-enrolment criteria. Deductions will be taken from your first monthly salary
14. Cycle to work scheme
15. Option to purchase and sell annual leave

We are Right There, a charity that recently celebrated our th anniversary. We provide tailored support for people, at home, and in the community. We are here for people who are living with the effects of homelessness, poverty, substance use, or family breakdowns.

Last year we supported almost 4, individuals, helping to prevent them from becoming homeless or separated from the people they love. Every person’s story is unique, and everyone’s route home is different - it doesn’t matter what the situation is – we’re not here to judge, only to help.
