Job Summary
St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Band 8a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist to join our well-established multidisciplinary Chronic Pain Service. The post is based at The Phoenix Centre, St George's Hospital, providing specialist input for clients with complex pain presentations. You will work as a member of the Chronic Pain Self Management Team, alongside clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, and a CNS, and liaise closely with medical colleagues in Pain Clinic.
Main duties of the job
This post offers an excellent opportunity for a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist to further develop assessment and intervention (group and individual) skills with people presenting with a wide range of chronic pain conditions and associated co-morbidities. Input can be delivered jointly with MDT colleagues via our intensive Pain Management Programme or on a unidisciplinary basis.
Within the post, there are opportunities to develop supervision and case consultation skills and to be involved in audit, research, and service development projects. The service actively promotes user involvement via social media, co-designed events, and consultation on service development. The post holder will be supported to identify creative ways of shaping future user involvement initiatives.
Supervision will be provided by an experienced consultant clinical psychologist, with opportunities to work flexibly, drawing on CBT, ACT, and CFT models.
