Case Administrator - Probation Service (Band 2)
Location: Birkenhead
Contract: Full-time, temporary (6 months with potential extension)
Hours: 37 per week, Monday to Friday (may include some evening work)
Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour
What you'll be doing:
Our client is hiring a dedicated Case Administrator to support the Probation Service in Birkenhead. In this role, you'll be the backbone of efficient administrative processes, ensuring staff and individuals on probation are supported through accurate record-keeping and effective communication. Your responsibilities will include maintaining databases with sensitive information, managing referrals, preparing case records, and coordinating appointments and meetings. You'll also handle enquiries via phone, email, and in person, providing a professional and compassionate service even in challenging situations. The role involves organising resources, supporting safeguarding duties, and contributing to a positive, inclusive environment aligned with the Service's values. Some out-of-hours work may be required, and adherence to confidentiality and health & safety policies is essential.
What you'll bring:
* Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Word and basic Excel
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of people
* Ability to work independently and use initiative to solve problems
* Good organisational skills, with attention to detail in record-keeping and data management
* A proactive approach to supporting team objectives and maintaining a high standard of service

Essential skills and qualities:
* Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
* Confidence in managing multiple tasks and prioritising effectively
* Resilience and professionalism when dealing with individuals in distress or displaying challenging behaviour
Qualifications & Experience:
* Experience in administrative roles, particularly within a public service or similar environment
* Ability to use databases and manage information securely
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
* Basic numeric skills for handling petty cash and financial records
Additional requirements:
* Security and identity checks prior to employment - these can take approx 4 weeks
* Willingness to undertake safeguarding responsibilities and adhere to all policies
