Overview
Salford Professional Development (SPD) was established in 2012 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Salford. SPD provides professional development, executive education, and commercial training opportunities that complement the University’s accredited portfolio.
SPD Group operates through two core business units.
SPD delivers a wide range of continuous professional development (CPD) programmes, leadership and management qualifications, and executive education initiatives across multiple sectors including public services, healthcare, education, private industry, and third sector organisations. Many of these programmes align with, and complement, the University’s academic strengths while supporting organisations and professionals to develop leadership capability, coaching practice, and organisational effectiveness.
SPD also delivers conferences, professional events, and customised organisational development programmes, and continues to expand its international professional education partnerships in line with the University’s strategic priorities.
UNITEMPS operates as the University’s student employment agency and has been part of SPD since 2017, providing flexible employment opportunities for students and graduates.
The postholder will deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across a range of Level 5 and Level 7 professional programmes in Leadership & Management and Coaching & Mentoring delivered through SPD.
These programmes support professionals from a variety of sectors including public services, healthcare, education, charities, and private industry. The tutor will facilitate interactive learning experiences that develop participants’ leadership capability, coaching and mentoring skills, and strategic management practice.
The role involves delivering teaching across programmes focused on areas such as leadership development, organisational performance, professional coaching practice, mentoring for leadership, and reflective management practice.
The tutor will support participants in developing the practical skills, theoretical knowledge, and reflective capabilities required to lead effectively within complex organisational environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging workshops, seminars, and facilitated learning sessions aligned with Level 5 and Level 7 leadership and coaching programme frameworks.
* Facilitate applied learning activities including leadership simulations, coaching practice sessions, reflective exercises, and case-based discussions.
* Support participants in applying leadership, coaching, and mentoring frameworks to real workplace challenges.
Participant Support
* Provide academic guidance and professional development support to programme participants.
* Facilitate reflective practice and peer learning to enhance leadership capability and coaching competence.
* Provide constructive feedback on assignments, reflective portfolios, and workplace-based learning activities.
Assessment and Evaluation
* Design, assess, and provide feedback on participant assessments in accordance with University quality standards and programme learning outcomes.
* Monitor participant progress and maintain accurate records of achievement and engagement.
* Support participants in translating learning into workplace impact.
Quality Assurance
* Ensure teaching and assessment practices comply with University quality standards and professional development frameworks.
* Contribute to programme evaluation, review, and continuous improvement activities.
* Support the enhancement of SPD’s leadership and coaching portfolio in line with sector needs.
Professional Development
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of leadership theory, organisational development practice, and coaching and mentoring methodologies.
* Engage in reflective professional practice and contribute to thought leadership in leadership development and executive education.
* Where appropriate, maintain relevant professional accreditations or memberships.
