Quality Improvement Technician
Shift Pattern: Mon - Fri 13:45 - 22:15
Job Summary
Responsible for working closely with the wider Configuration team to help troubleshoot problematic builds and processes, and see them through to resolution. Take the lead in quality control and perform QC functions. Play a key role in the upkeep of build documentation and the platform that delivers it. This role requires someone to be incredibly organised, focused, self‑motivated and flexible, with a keen attention to detail and a solid understanding of the CDW way, demonstrating its core values at all times.
What you will do
* Troubleshooting and resolution of failed hardware, including calls with manufacturers
* Troubleshooting and resolution of build issues
* Escalation of persistent issues to Consultant team
* Troubleshooting and resolution of stock issues
* Quality checking of some orders
* Raise the overall awareness of quality requirements across the team
* Ensure excellent communication on what is happening with problem orders is relayed to the leadership team, account teams, and at times customers directly.
* Create new or amend existing client build documents to a very high standard, ensuring processes are as efficient and simple as possible, and that instructions are clear and accurate for other technicians.
* Test new builds and run through build documents
* Provide support and assistance to the wider team during peak periods
* Take a proactive approach towards new technology
* Help develop technicians within the department by working closely with the Trainer to identify skill gaps
* Continual improvement of self to promote improvement of the department’s processes and skill set
* Identify skills gaps within the team and help transfer knowledge to fill them
* Identify equipment required to perform relevant tasks or to improve productivity
* Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines at all times
* Perform any additional duties assigned by the leadership team
* Work beyond the scheduled shift on occasion when required
* Take responsibility for the technical development of other technicians
* Commit to self‑improvement and self‑learning
* Complete tasks normally associated with higher‑level technicians to aid co‑worker development
* Demonstrate the values as laid out in the CDW way and keep updated with the CDW way
* Always look for improvement ideas to help the productivity and efficiency of the department
* Demonstrate ability to lift and carry up to 15kg of force frequently (34‑67% of the workday) and up to 25kg of force occasionally (0‑33% of the workday); use a buddy lift system for loads over 25kg
* Demonstrate ability to perform eight or more hours of standing, walking, bending, lifting, stooping and carrying products in combination at any time
* Work in a warehouse environment that includes changes in temperature as weather fluctuates
What we expect of you
* Desired 12 months experience in a Senior Technician role or similar experience
* Proven analytical skills and ability to solve problems and provide feedback to others
* Quality control experience is a key advantage
* Ability to share knowledge with others to aid team development
* Ability to handle projects and provide feedback on progress, issues, and resolutions
* Exceptional organisational skills and focus on quality
* Ability to manage multiple projects effectively
* Ability to learn new technology quickly and keep pace with an ever‑changing industry, communicating with the wider team
* Flexibility to meet the changing needs of the department
* Preferred A+ Certification or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Preferably working towards or holding relevant certifications such as MTA, MCSA, MCSE, Server+, Network+, Security+, CCNA, CMNA etc.
* Show a clear path towards obtaining relevant certifications and learning new technology
* GCSE in English & Maths
* Degree‑level qualification highly desirable
* Basic warehousing experience is an advantage
