Offer description

Write a short description of your company, a boilerplate of the business, service or product that you offer. Include your business idea and the target audience. This text is primarily supposed to be descriptive, not selling.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an outstanding Teacher of Biology to join a highly regarded independent school in Cambridge. This is a superb role for a Biology specialist who enjoys academic rigour and wants to work with pupils who are motivated, inquisitive and eager to be challenged.

The school offers a calm, purposeful learning environment with excellent behaviour, strong pastoral care and a culture that values scholarship and enrichment. With smaller class sizes, excellent laboratory facilities and strong resources, this is an outstanding opportunity to teach Biology in a setting where pupils genuinely enjoy learning and teachers can teach with depth.

About the Role

As Teacher of Biology, you will teach across KS3–KS5, delivering engaging, well-structured lessons that develop strong scientific knowledge, practical confidence and secure exam technique.

Your teaching will support pupils to:

Build secure understanding of core biological principles through carefully sequenced learning
Develop confidence in practical work and safe laboratory routines
Apply scientific knowledge accurately through data analysis, interpretation and evaluation
Use precise scientific language in written and verbal responses
Prepare effectively for GCSE and A-Level through modelling, deliberate practice and precise feedback

Pupils may study topics including cell biology, organisation, infection and response, bioenergetics, homeostasis, genetics, evolution and ecology, with teaching designed to help them make strong conceptual links and develop increasing independence as scientists.

There may also be opportunities to contribute to enrichment such as science societies, Olympiad preparation, extension workshops, fieldwork or wider STEM initiatives.

The Department

Biology is a valued subject within the school, and the Science department is collaborative, academically ambitious and well organised. Teachers share resources, plan carefully and maintain consistent approaches to assessment to support strong outcomes.

The department values:

Knowledge-rich teaching that builds deep understanding over time
Clear explanation and strong modelling of theory and practical method
High expectations for accuracy, effort and academic discipline
Practical work that strengthens confidence and conceptual understanding
Enrichment and extension that promote scholarship beyond the classroom

Science is popular across the school, and pupils respond well to challenge, thoughtful questioning and intellectually demanding lessons.

About the School

This Cambridge independent school is known for high academic standards and a supportive culture. Pupils are respectful, engaged and ambitious, creating calm classrooms where teachers can focus on teaching and learning.

The school places strong emphasis on academic excellence balanced with wider development, offering a broad co-curricular programme, strong pastoral support and a professional working environment where expertise is valued and collaboration is strong. Staff benefit from smaller classes, motivated learners and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to school life beyond the classroom.
