What's involved with this role: JOB TITLE: Digital Communications Officer REF: Gloucestershire 5280906 Pay rate: £19.32 to £21.14 per hour PAYE, DOE Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 6 mont hs Working Arrangement: Working hours: 3 days a week or equivalent no of hours Working pattern: Hybrid working, the successful applicant will be expected to be in the office or out filming at least 50% of their working week with the other 50% at home Duration of role: November - end of March 26 In order to apply for this role you will have a proven track record in leading on customer communications specifically digital, media, marketing and internal communications, ideally within a local authority or large public sector organisation. On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Digital Communications Officer who thrives under pressure and can juggle multiple priorities with creativity and confidence, to join a friendly and fast-paced communications team. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment where your ideas are valued, and your work makes a real impact across the county and the organisation. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver timely, audience-focused digital content. Provide strategic communications advice for key projects. Create engaging photo and video content aligned with key messages. Develop and manage campaign strategies supporting council objectives. Leverage national campaigns and local events for content opportunities. Advise senior leaders on communications and manage multiple projects. Mentor and supervise team members, supporting their professional growth. Use data and behavioural insights to shape and target communications. Engage with the public via social media in a professional, friendly way. Recommend and implement improvements to communication approaches. Protect and enhance the council’s reputation at all times. Evaluate campaigns and apply lessons learned for improvement. Explore income-generating opportunities for the team. Support crisis or emergency communications, including out-of-hours work. Participate in the communications on-call rota. What the client is looking for: Proven track record in leading on customer communications specifically digital, media, marketing and internal communications Proven track record in successful campaign/project management Proven track record of effective digital content generation including videography Experience of finding positive solutions to complex customer communications challenges Experience of working in a political environment including briefing elected members Experience of mentoring/supervising junior staff Proven experience of the preparation and presentation of controversial information to the public in an engaging and creative way.
